Privacy Policy

Smart OTT Player (“the app”) is a media player. It plays audio/video streams and playlists that you add, and it can play video and music already stored on your device. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

Information we collect

The app has no user accounts or sign-in, and we do not sell your information. It contains no analytics SDK. It does show advertising, which is described in its own section below.

The app does use Firebase Remote Config (Google) to fetch its own configuration — feature switches, an occasional in-app notice, and the minimum supported app version. To deliver that configuration, Firebase generates a Firebase Installation ID for your installation of the app and may receive basic device and app information such as app version, platform, device model, and language/region. This is used to serve configuration and for Google’s own service operation; it is not used by us to identify you, and we do not link it to any account or to the advertising identifier described below. Google’s handling of that data is described in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Advertising

The app is free and is funded by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob, and only AdMob — we use no other ad network, no mediation partners, and no analytics or attribution SDKs.

To serve and measure ads, Google receives your device’s advertising identifier (the Advertising ID on Android, the IDFA on iOS) together with technical information such as your IP address, device model, operating-system version, app version, and language/region, and information about the ads shown — for example that an ad was displayed, or that you tapped one. This is used for ad delivery, frequency limiting, measurement, and fraud prevention, and — where you have agreed to it — for personalised advertising, which may include tracking across other apps and websites. Google’s handling of this data is described in how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the AdMob privacy documentation.

Your choices. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before requesting ads and you may withdraw or change it at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options. Declining does not remove ads, but they will be non-personalised. On iOS, personalised advertising additionally requires your permission under App Tracking Transparency; you can change that at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. On Android you can reset or delete your Advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. We do not sell your information, and we do not receive or store your advertising identifier ourselves.

Ad content is supplied by Google and its advertisers, not by us. Tapping an ad takes you to a destination we do not control and whose privacy practices are its own.

Your media on this device

Once you grant permission, the app looks for playable video and music on your device so it can list them in the “On This Device” tab:

All of this happens on your device. The app does not upload, transmit, or back up your media files, their contents, or a list of them to us or to anyone else. You can withdraw media access at any time in your device settings, which stops the app listing that content.

Data stored on your device

The app stores the following locally on your device:

A PIN you set is a convenience lock only. It hides a playlist behind a prompt; it is not encryption and is not a security measure against someone with access to your unlocked device or its backups.

Deleting your data

Deleting an item removes it, and uninstalling the app removes the app’s stored data from the device. Note that copies may still exist outside the app’s control — for example in an Android automatic-backup or an iOS device/iCloud backup made before uninstalling, and in any file you imported, which remains in your device’s storage until you delete it yourself. We cannot reach or remove those copies.

Network connections

The app connects to:

Third-party servers are operated by others and may receive your IP address and standard request information. We do not control and are not responsible for their privacy practices — review their policies separately.

Many IPTV playlists are plain http://, so the app permits unencrypted connections for links you supply. That means not every connection the app makes is encrypted: a stream you add over http:// travels unencrypted and may be visible to your network provider. Use https:// sources where you can.

Permissions

The app requests internet access to load streams; media/photo access to list the video and music already on your device; and access to individual files you pick when importing a playlist, video, or track. Media access is optional — declining it only means the “On This Device” tab has nothing to list.

On Android 13 and later the app also asks for notification permission, the first time you play a track. It is used solely to show the playback notification and the lock-screen and headphone controls that come with it while music is playing. The app sends no promotional, marketing, or reminder notifications. Declining does not stop playback — it only means those controls are not shown.

Children

The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them. Because it shows advertising, it is intended for a general audience aged 13 or over; please do not use it if you are younger.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
